as far as sports nirvana goes - i mean come on - the jayhawks beat roy williams and north carolina - to get to the championship game - which they win - and then the royals win their home opener - against the yankees - in which the royals pitchers struck out a-rod four times! the only thing that would make my joy complete is if the NCAA came out and said that MU had to forfeit the MU - KU border war at arrowhead because they had a bunch of players that never went to class.

Good opening day story JP. I would probably attribute it to beer...something else which goes good with opening day. Here's a quote from Chris last Tuesday: "One reason I enjoy baseball more than football - it's harder to enjoy drunk."

In 1997, my friends and I got bleacher seats to Tiger opening day. The game consisted of:
- fights all around us
- at least 20 people ran out on the field at some point during the game, and one of the 20 people dodged all security people to slide into home plate
- Kenny Lofton almost got hit by a flying napkin dispenser from the stands

I would agree with your point about football fans transitioning to opening day baseball but Detroit Lion fans have been quiet for decades, so I don't know what to attribute the chaos to that fine opening day in beautiful downtown Detroit. JP
